Nico, Sean and Ben just spent 13 days up on the east face of the Central Tower of Paine in a successful free ascent of the South African route! It’s the first all free ascent of the East face of the Central Tower! There are some spectacular pitches up there on amazing granite with incredible moves! We had an absolutely awesome time. Jamming, climbing and hanging out! We were treated to much better weather than team Waltzing Matillda (the Aussies Lee and Jake).

The Anglo-Saxon contingent/Patagonia virgins, Pete and Mason, also managed to get in a couple of climbs, despite worse weather on the West Face. There strategy consisted of fast and light tactics doing mostly FA (Failed Attempts). After getting shut down on the road to nowhere (a steep new route that stops half way up the North Tower), they blazed up the normal route of North Tower for a quick summit tick. A few days later they climbed a new route on a potentially unclimbed peak at the head of the Mirador valley of which we don’t know the name yet (CerroŠ ?)

We are all in good sprits and glad to be in Puerto Natales for a few days before re-sorting and refiguring… The UK ambassador of our team aka Pete, is being called back to his home for Valentines Days and will be leaving in a couple of days.

Here are a few classic shots from the bunch…more stories, pictures and videos of our ascents and adventures to come in the next couple of days!!!
